What is conference interpretation?
Conference interpretation is used at meetings, conferences and events where there is a need to interpret from one language into another or more. Wha. conference interpretation, participants can listen to the content in a language they understand.
At meetings and conferences, there may often be a need to interpret from the speakers' language into other languages. Here, conference interpreters will use simultaneous interpreting systems (for simultaneous interpretation) when they need to reach several meeting participants at a time. The conference interpreters are placed in interpretation boxes, from where they listen to the speakers' contributions on an audio channel (floor) while they use special interpreter microphones to send their interpretation out on another channel dedicated to the language they are translating into. This allows meeting participants to select the channel number that suits their language. The meeting participants listen in using a receiver (with channel selector) and headphones. Conference interpreting is demanding, as the interpreters translate at the same time as the spoken word. Often two interpreters in each interpretation box therefore work together in turn on one language in each interpretation box. At Teletech, you can also rent simultaneous interpretation systems that do not require interpretation boxes. You can read more about this below.

BOSCH simultaneous interpretation system
We rent out BOSCH simultaneous interpretation systems , which are often used at large conferences. For the meeting participants, it consists of receivers and headphones, and for the interpreters, interpreter microphones and interpreter microphones. The system can deliver up to 31 languages + sound from speakers (floor). BOSCH table microphones can also be rented for this, as well as other types of microphones .
Remote interpreting (RSI) & AI interpreting
We also rent out a system for remote interpreting (RSI) . Wha. this system can interpret the speeches of the speakers for your conference over the Internet. BOSCH Integrus receivers
Conference or meeting participants use wireless receivers that can receive up to 31 language channels. The meeting participants choose the channel on which their language is interpreted (language signs with channel number are mounted on the interpretation boxes).
Headphones
Headphones are used by both interpreters and conference participants. The interpreters hear the language they are to interpret from and the participants the language they are being interpreted into.
Interpretation boxes
The interpretation boxes are soundproof, ventilated and comfortable for the interpreters to work in. These are set up by specialized interpretation technicians and are usually placed at the back or along the side of the conference room. A language sign is mounted on each interpreting box showing the language that is interpreted into in the box in question, as well as the channel number on which the language is broadcast.
Interpreting microphones
The interpreters use special interpreting microphones to interpret for the conference participants. Headphones are connected to the microphone. In these they either hear the sound from the speaker (floor), but they can also choose to interpret the sound from one of the other interpreters if they do not understand the floor language. These are pre-programmed before the conference or meeting by a specialized interpretation technician.
Radiators
The radiators ensure that the sound from all the interpreters is distributed without noise to the receivers of the conference participants. Specialized interpretation technicians ensure that they are positioned so that they cover the conference hall as best as possible. They can e.g. mounted on racks or suspended from a truss or similar. If it is a small meeting, just one or two radiators are used.
APS control unit
APS stands for Audio Powering Switch. The device controls sound and power for the multimedia devices in the system.
Microphones for the participants (with or without channel selector)
At larger conferences, conference microphones are often used for the conference participants. However, these can also easily be used for smaller meetings. The microphones are placed on the tables in front of the conference participants. Note that these can be supplied with and without a channel selector. With a channel selector, they can also be used to listen in on the interpreted languages, just like when using our receivers.
